CAT CHAT

Website: https://catchat.gg
Server: chat.catchat.gg:6667

WINDOWS
Extract the ZIP and run Start-Catchat.cmd in Windows Terminal. The executable
includes its C runtime; no Rust installation is needed. This is an unsigned
pre-release build. SHA-256 checksums are published with the downloads.

LINUX
This build targets x86_64 Linux with glibc 2.39 or newer (Ubuntu 24.04 or a
compatible distribution). It also needs libasound.so.2. Open a terminal in
the extracted directory and run ./start-catchat.sh.

ACCOUNT
Choose Register and use a private invitation code from the server operator.
Your password and invite are not saved. The included client.toml contains
only the public server address; it saves your username and mouse preference
after login. Do not add a custom CA or disable certificate verification.

QUICK START
/join general Join a room
/create general Create a room
/msg username Open a direct message
/help Show controls

Typing / opens command hints. Ctrl-K switches conversations. Click messages
or right-click for reply, reaction, and copy. F2 toggles mouse capture so you
can use the terminal's own selection/copy behavior. Esc or Quit exits from
login/register; Ctrl-C exits from every screen.

VOICE (WINDOWS ONLY IN THIS FIRST VERSION)
/voice devices Choose audio devices
/voice test Five-second local microphone level test
/voice on Join the current room's voice channel
Hold F9 Talk, including while another app has focus
/voice off Leave voice
/voice key F7 Choose a different function key

Use a headset. Echo cancellation and noise suppression are not implemented.
The key is observed, not swallowed; choose one unused by your game/app.
Leaving, disconnecting, or releasing PTT stops transmission. Voice is not
recorded by Cat Chat. Transport encryption is client-to-server, not end-to-end.
The Linux client supports text and radio, but not voice/global PTT yet.

RADIO
/radio on Listen to the room's shared radio
/radio add <Spotify URL> Queue a Spotify track when enabled by the operator
/radio upload <path> Queue a local MP3, WAV, or FLAC
/radio off Stop listening

Keep invitation codes private. Never post passwords, invites, or cached
provider credentials to a room or include them when sharing this package.
